Spread them out so the radius bump into each other but don't overlap too much (look at Olympic flag for example, kinda). Obviosuly don't put the next stop at the edge of the previous stop radius - cos the radius will overlap = too many stops. Look at the happiness smiles that occur when you place the stop. If you're going to do loop circuits, do an outside loop and an inside loop that goes the other way. For me, nearly every route goes in one direction from a central hub (and there can be multiple hubs) out towards a place and then back again "along the exact same route".
